Tried to get my geek on today at Fry's...
Went down to pick up a cheap hard drive they advertised for the Grand Opening special. 160gb 8meg cache 7200 rpm - fifty bucks!
The line ~ 11:00 am was completely around the building. And it's a big building!
Just kept on driving past the store...

Same thing my buddy said he did. Pretty funny.
I've been to Fry's in San Jose; glad they're finally opening up here. It's geek heaven. Too bad it's all the way down in Renton, though (no offense to you Rentonites; I know it's "Ahead of the Curve").

I've been into the San Jose and SoCal stores, and they all suck for service. Great prices- if they have it in stock- which is seldom true. Lots of loss leader ads, and little inventory to back it up. The only prereq for being hired appears to be a pulse.

Uh...not to burst the mystique, but the way that they can bring the great prices is by putting no emphasis on service. Essentially the employees stock shelves and point you in the direction of something you're looking for...nothing more.
