SuperCharger vs TurboCharger
Wife and I agree were gonna boost the s2k pretty soon. I am leaning towads the comptech supercharger. Anyone have any suggestions or expeirences that would help me make my decision. Figure im going to budget around 6k for the project.

You can do a CT SC or Vortec easily with $6,000. You will have money let over to have some more fun. You might get away with a turbo kit for that price, but when I looked into it, the cost of install, tuning, etc. sent my total closer to $7,000.
Turbo is better IMO and more impressive, but the SC is straight forward and reliable. Turbo can be reliable as well, but I feel the SC would be more reliable.

Supercharger: Cheaper, more reliable
Turbo: Faster.
The SC builds boost with RPMs, so naturally it wont peak until the end of the range. While a Turbo can have full boost by 3500 RPM or 4000. Assuming they are both boostin 6-8psi, the Turbo will be under boost longer, and build a lot more Torque.
But, you can't cheap out on the Turbo. With "only" $6K, I'd go with the SC. A quality kit (Full Race, LoveFab) and tuning will be more for sure. I wouldn't trust the others.
Comptech/Vortech is still a a beast, and you can even "choose" to tune, add more boost via smaller pulleys, etc...
Good luck!

Ultimate Racing and InlinePro both make kits that will fit your budget. And they are both very reliable with a stock block as long as you don't push more than 350 whp. If you don't do clutch dumps the transmission and differential will take the power. You will need a stronger clutch though. I think you will get a lot more enjoyment out of a turbo setup.

If you want a hassle free ride the supercharger is most likely the better way to go. Even with a (so called) low cost turbo system kit the end result will eat your pocket. If you raise the budget to around 8k-10k turbo is a no brainer but for 6k you most likely will be happier in the end with the supercharger. You also don't have smog legal on the turbo kit either.

In general, the diffs are:
Supercharger:
Better for street driving
Max Power Addition only at redline (for typical non positive displacement units)
Easier install
Turbocharger:
More power potential, more power "under the curve". IE, it'll come on full boost at some lower RPM vs. at red line for a centrifugal supercharger.
More involved install, but not rocket science.
Streetability lower than supercharger, but since the S has high compression vs. typical turbo cars, not an issue.
Great torque boost

turbo does add good amount of torque. with my old rsx i reached peak torque at 2500 rpm and stayed flat. turbo was fun.
by adding either kit, you will have to spend extra to be more reliable and fun such as clutch, differential, fuel system... bottom line good tuning and maint is the key. and when your motor ask for more hp don't be shy.
