Default Spring Rates?

I'm thinking of getting some Ground Control adjustable springs/perches/sleaves whatever you want to call them and they give you the option of made to order spring rates. They recommend 340/380 for the s2000, but I'm not sure if this will be too stiff for normal commuting. Stock is 218/291 and I just got use to it. I do plan on autocrossing more this summer, but I'm not hardcore or anything. I'm a bit confused when I look at this spring rate thread seems like some manufactures make it stiffer in front then the rear and vis versa. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...hl=spring+rates
Anyways what do you think? I can live with a bit stiffer if it would give me a bit more performance.

i have a 10k/12k spring rate setup. too much for me. i think an 8k setup would be a good compromise (for me).

8k => 448
10k => 569

you should also consider getting shocks that have matched valving to the spring rate, or you could end up with a ride that bounces anywhere everywhere.

My best advice to you on messing with the suspension is very simple: keep it simple.

Why do you even want them in the first place?

If it's to simply lower, I personally would not do it because the S2000 looks weird lowered on 16" wheels. It literally makes the car look like an RV due to narrowness of wheels and OEM offsets.

The stock setup is superior to anything else under $1K per corner. At least that's what the S2000 auto-x/track wizards have shared with us over the years.

I ran the 340/380 setup for about 20K miles and it wasn't bad. But now that I'm on Konis, I can definitely feel the improvement. mwy23's recommendation ain't bad either, but it means nothing without matching it up the appropriate shocks. I wouldn't go any higher than 340/380 on Koni Sport Yellows.

A lot of the ricers on this board (there are a ton of them) that get wood off the words JDM swear by their $1500 setups. BS. Stiffer and lower to the ground doesn't equate to better handling. Stock suspension rules from a pure handling standpoint. Lookswise, you just make the sacrifice to get low to the ground and deal with it. You can't get the best of both worlds without major time and $$$$$$$ put into the effort.

Thanx for the Advice.

Ben I want to go lower cuz I'm putting on 17" Racing Hart CP-035's. Another guy (William Chen) has a white S2000 with the same wheels and his car doesn't seem lowered. It looks okay, but it would look better .5-1" lower.

I don't know him. So maybe, but originally I wanted to buy his car and he said its only for sale if the price is right. It had been on sale for a long time. I was never able to meet up with him to check out his car and ended up buying a different one. I'm not 100% sure if its him, but a white s2000 with white Racing Hart CP-035's is car is parked at UW montelake parking lot everyday. I believe he's a grad student.

Anyways do you think 340/380 would be okay to use on stock shocks? I wasn't planning on upgrading my shocks until a while later since I think I would have to get different Ground Controls to do that.

I wouldn't buy those wheels if I were you. Horrible offsets. Narrow ass wheels.

I've already told you how I feel about the 340/380 setup with stock shocks.
