Sports car track day at PGP: October 14
Registration is now open for the next sports car lapping day at Pacific Grand Prix, on Wednesday, October 14.

The last one was great, so let's do it again!
This is a relaxed, non-competitive lapping day where people can have fun and improve their driving skills on a small, well-maintained track. It's a very tight course, almost like an autocross, with beautifully smooth pavement. We don't race but we do drive pretty hard. All skill levels, from novice to professional racer, are welcome to participate.

Just a thought, I think it would be cool to have someone manage a link to a time card with the top 50 times of this track with member name and car type, assuming the kart track is set up for keeping track of lap times now. I think this would increase the fun factor for the more advanced drivers and helpful for those who are trying to improve and need some form to measure by with a reference.

a written time card ala top gear style, locked up at RT's wine cabinet...
I don't think Chris as an organizer wants to get any attention from insurance
companies.

We should all gang up on those insurance companies and club them over the head with their huge briefcases of cash

I don't want people driving at ten tenths. Lap times at a relaxed pace are pretty meaningless.
That's not to say I don't like the idea; I'll gladly post my meaningless lap times along with the rest.

There's not a lot that can go wrong at the PGP but nonetheless, "wrong" can happen.
There's the double apex left hander on the last 1/4 of the track that could be "unfriendly" if you decided to leave the track there. Also there was the NSX who thought it would be fun to back into the fence coming onto the front stretch (when I went).
If you're showing up to a track day doing 10/10th's in your street car, it's the equivalent of saying... "I won the first practice session!"

We all take a risk as soon as we enter the track so lets not pretend here, you just hope the people on it have enough sense to know to run within their capabilities and where they can safely get away with stretching out their legs a little.
There are drivers who are experienced enough to know their own abilities and the abilities of their cars well that are out there using this track, and plenty that are not as adept, it’s quite the mixed bag but that’s why we go out in similar skill level groups. The faster guys are more competitive, either for themselves or against others plain and simple so keeping time is an added element that keeps it entertaining also. I for one would shoot myself if I aloud myself to damage my car out there in any shape or form, I think most of us would feel this way so no one is going 10/10th out there really, and if someone is, and is consistantly leaving the track out of control, I would keep them off it. I'm down for keeping track of 9/10th times
