Default Shoulda gone to Taco's

Driving home last night it started sleeting as I got close to home. My house is at the top of a hill, and I swear it went from no sleet on the road at the bottom to about 1/2" half way up. Driving an S2K on frozen ball bearings ain't any fun. Anyway my car just went straight sideways and hit a curb that our public works guys put in to slow traffic down. As many marks as I see on those curbs I'm wondering if the guys that put it in own an alignment shop. Looks like the drivers side front wheel took all the damage. I'm now looking for suggestions on how to get 1 used '04 or'05 front wheel, or maybe where to take it to get it refurbed. I have $500 deductable on my insurance, so I just want to do it out of pocket without killing my wallet. Any ideas guys?

No suggestions. I hit a curb shortly after I bought my car, and my wheel looked to take most of it, too. But there was a lot of suspension damage, and it ended up being $6,000 out of my pocket. I'm sure yours won't be that bad, but I don't know where to buy a single wheel. Try eBay? And any tire shop or dealer should be able to align. Sorry for the misfortune.

I've seen some 04+ single wheels on ebay a few times, but it may take some time to find. How bad is the wheel? Wheel repair cost about $175 for repair bad rash and straightening is usually less probably $75. If the suspension is damaged you probably should go with the insurance company as it will probably cost more then your deductable.

I'll give you the wheel repair place once I find their info.

Thanks guys, I found a wheel at a Honda wrecking yard in Woodinville for $250. I think that is going to be the way to go, especially if repairs are $175. Hinshaws body shop is doing the alignment and checking for damage. I figure I was only doing maybe 15-20 when I glanced off the curb so hopefully no damage. The car drives good with no pulling or vibrations. Thanks again, next time I'm going to Azteca instead, I look forward to meeting you. Tony

Sounds like a good deal. Glad things seem to be okay.

This part is pretty funny. The guy from Hinshaws body shop called and said he found a wheel for $287 that he could have next week. I told him I had a wheel for $250 that I could have tomorrow. He said cool, if you're going to do that why don't you just take it to Les schwab and have them mount it and do the alignment. I said !?, you guys are supposed to check for damage. He said we charge $50 for the alignment and the Schwab guys will find out about damage the same way we will, with the alignment machine. I think he just doesn't want the hassle of doing all the paperwork for $50. I'm not sure what to do now. You guys know any alignment shops, Les Schwab is for my 86 Civic, not my S. Tony

Hey tony,

I followed some of the advice from an alignment thread a few months back and got my alignment at Europa in Bellevue. Was 89.00 out the Door Excellent price considering les schwab was like 59 before tax or something like that... and they seemed very knowledgable, especially considering they remembered the exact specs of of the last s2kiers who got their alignment there. I just copied their settings

Give em a call, you won't be disappointed.
