S2K as daily drivers?

Unfortunately its my only car so I drove it on every snow day we had in SEA this year.
I got Dunlop Wintersport M2's, which are pretty good snow tires, I good chug along OK in a couple of inches of snow. They work OK on icy roads, but its not great. I was able to traverse some pretty hairy roads up and down China Creek in Newcastle (felt good to go up, while people where parking at the bottom of the hill and walking).
If you can avoid the deep snow/ice, you can get away w/ S-03's, I've gone through a set before, and they are excellent rain tires. I also have a set of Yokohama AVS-i tires (which are discontinued) and they are also a really good rain tire, w/ excellent dry grip. Good "rain" tires will work OK in the slush just fine (see RT's pic above).
I think the S-02's are OK in the rain (granted you have some tread left), you just got to do one simple thing, and its just to drive slower/smoother than usual.

More than the tire itself, get yourself to a driving school.

It also helps you in other ways -- I feel certain that I would have been in a snowmobile accident yesterday if not for my performance driving schools last year. We came upon a blind corner and I only managed to barely keep enough control of my sled to get through it. Threshhold braking just until I started to oversteer, then feathered the throttle based on the grip of the track while working the drift of the skis by judicious application of opposite lock. (My dad didn't manage the trick, missed the corner, went over the bank, and busted his leg.)
-Mike (ps. Dad is going to be OK, but out of action for 4-8 weeks)
