Any of the PacNW folks gonna make the trek?

Its likely we're gonna have a near full event of ONLY s2000s.

Gotta come.

I forgot to add

SpeedVentures will ALSO be at Thunderhill Saturday Feburary 7th and Sunday Feburary 8th. 3 days at TWO of Colly-fornia's best race tracks.

I doubt I'll make these, but it's possible...

Laguna Seca and Thunderhill are both incredible tracks, and well worth the drive down. Laguna Seca is also near Monterey, so it's easy to turn the drive into a nice vacation at one of the most scenic areas in the country with great shopping, restaurants, golf, etc.

I'd love to do this, but I'm not sure I can spare the time off work.

its probably 2.5 days off from portland right?

You'd need most of Thusday to get to Laguna in monterey, but Thunderhill is Sat/Sun so you could leave sunday night, drive most of the way, grab a hotel and be home not too late monday morning.

I show its about 500 miles from Thunderhill to Portland.

I ran into snow issues trying to get to and from Laguna in November. Those tracks are a lot easier to get to from the south during the winter.

Exactly! There's about 100 miles of territory that's above 2000 feet in elevation and the summit is just above 4000 feet. A more realistic route this time of year is to take the coast and leave Wednesday, 4 days, including return.

Its nice there today. Just above freezing.

The drive through the passes might not be that bad. I think it really depends on that particular week. We drove down to Thunderhill this year in Feb for a SV event and it was sunny and dry the whole time. Never saw any snow at all.

But when we were driving to OTC in April, we did encounter some snow and lots of wind on the same road. It wasn't bad enough to really delay our trip, but it wasn't the most enjoyable to drive through a snow/wind storm with Z rated tires towing a trailer.

I think this would be a great trip! Not very often can us non-California folks line up a schedule that gives the best "bang for the buck". One drive down and 3 great track days. Plus the tracks won't open up here in the NW until end of March or April, so this would give us a great head start on the season, and a good warm up/shake down for anyone considering OTC in mid-April.

I'm really going to try to make both events. I can't believe it is already nearly a year since my first drive to Thunderhill. This opportunity is too good to pass-up with a lame excuse like "snow"!

Last Feb, the drive was 50-60 degrees the whole way, with the only snow I ever saw the whole way down on top of Mt. Shasta. I think the Siskiyou-Pass is overrated - it's just a big hill. I'm more worried about the concrete walls at Laguna.

My real excuse would be getting time-off from work. I should know by around January, and hopefully the events haven't filled up by then.

Anyone from the Portland area going? The local track events at PIR don't start until March.
