im not angry in any way, i just think you dont understand what im saying and it frustrates me.
your right, i think its "cute".... wait, no i dont.
like i said, i do not slide around on public roads unless there are no cars around and especially pedestrians. i keep it safe in case (and theres always a chance) the car spins out from oversteer.
the whole point of this thread was that the original poster wanted to know how bad driving in these conditions gets.
i was merely pointing out that with crappy non winter tires with minimal treadwear left, its still not hard to drive in the snow. i have had no problems, and i was able to make it to work and back up a few hills without crashing into anything. the fact that i had some fun on the way does not mean i am irresponsible, immature, or wreckless.
and RAIN?!?!? if you are scared to drive in rain WA is not the place for you. rain is not dangerous to drive in unless there are massive puddles where you can hydroplane and lose control. as long as you wheels can make contact with the ground, rain is only dangerous because of visibility. yes, it is easier to lose control in the rain, but that only means you should take your corners with care and dont downshift mid turn. UNLESS... you WANT to get it a little sideways, rain is your friend.
im not the only one on here who shares this point of view.
just really stupid that because i mentioned the condition of my tires you guys freak out and start making unfounded assumptions about me.
once again, its not hard to drive in the snow and rain isnt even an issue. EVEN with some bald street tires.

And really, I don't care that you hold this view point. It's reckless and foolish, but it's your life so go with it. And I won't worry about your driving around, because there are 2 or 3 million other drivers in the Puget Sound and most of them seem to struggle with driving in the rain and snow, even with decent equipment.
That said, we'd all be much better off without new owners who've never driven an S2000 in snow thinking it's a snowmobile based on your view point, after you managed to get around 2 or 3 times in the snow. You're not the first to do it, and you won't be the last, but it's a whole heck of a lot easier with good tires (i.e. snow tires or at least "all-season" tires).

I'm sure you're a capable driver and able to get from point A to point B with your wide bald-ish summer tires on your light weight car, even with standing water on the road, or worse, snow/ice. I'm sure you'll stand by your point of view right up until you pile your car up because you had no traction. Hopefully nobody gets maimed/killed when that happens. Emphasis on when, because it will.

I'm still at the anger phase. I have not yet channeled the dark side of the force fully.

Hey, Jeff--Only seven weeks until the year's first autox!
I think I'll run it on bald tires.
Of course, having learned at the feet of the master (you), if it rains, I'll just stay home.

Mark -
You don't get to be my age without learning a thing or two.
Rainy auto-x and rain golf - no thanks.
Of course I do posses the mad skillz that enable me and my S2000 to defy the laws of physics so I may just commute on my bald R compounds for sh!ts and giggles.
