Possibly Relocating to Bellevue/Seattle Area
Hiya possible future neighbors!
I am a proud S2K owner and my co-pilot, aka Hubby, was just recently in the Bellevue/Seattle area on an interview and absolutely loved it! Apparently he found it gorgeous and it looks as if we maybe uprooting and replanting in your area. So I will confess now that I do NOT know what it is I am speaking of as I know not of your community and am posting to gain knowledge. (ZOMG! She read the FAQ's!) As you can see from my badges we are from the opposite end of the U.S. of A and our idea of cold is the ice melting in our frozen drinks that we're contently slurping through umbrella straws on the beach with. We are not use to the cold and to put it mildly, we're freezing our arses off at the moment down here! So what does a Florida gal need to know for thriving in the rugged beauty of Washington and to keep warm without suffering hypothermia?
We're currently researching through the net and trying to familiarize ourselves as best as possible without a first person experience on the Land of Starbucks, Microsoft and sushi (Ok, I threw that last one in there but you have to have good sushi there, right?). We'll probably be taking a flight up there soon to house hunt and so that I may atleast see the area. As you can see from my avatar pic, I am a proud mother of that little man and we hear that Bellevue has an excellent school system. With that in mind we'll be searching to rent a house within Bellevue and neighboring areas. This will be quite the adventure for us as I am a life long east coaster and we have no kin and only just recently, two friends in the area so please feel free to post up any tips or suggestions and links to good areas and homes, as any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'd be greatly appreciative if you could point me in the right direction to the nearest and yummiest martini bar.
P.S. I have read the FAQ's and here do abide by them.
Much Appreciation,
~Sinsin

Traffic can be sort of a pain so it's important to know approx location of your hubby's work and what hours he's working/commuting before any suggestions of where to live are meaningful.
BTW, Cute kid

Many of the core members live on the eastside, so I'm sure you'll get some good tips and other info. from these guys!
If you'd like to meet other members we also have weekly meets on the eastside:

As for the weather, it's not that cold out here. It'll take some adjusting. I will say we have great summers here! Probably can't compete with Florida!
Martini bars and other hang outs, like I stated, if you have any questions, someone will chime in and give you some suggestions..... Some may not be good suggestion, but we'll give'em to ya' anyways!
Have fun & welcome!

Thanks! I'm pretty partial to the little tyke myself.
Office location is downtown Bellevue and work hours would be your usual day hours so hubby would be joining the work flow traffic jams.
As to the Poker Run if we settle out there, we would be out there by Feb. 15th so I think we'd be there in plenty of time.

1) Yes, we have the best Sushi in the US. No joke. My wife and I have heavily researched this detail.
2) The weather utterly sucks. If you find out how to stay warm, or more importantly dry, please share the secret sauce. Bottle it. Sell it. Get rich.
3) If you have specific questions regarding your home search or there is information you don't want to post feel free to PM me. I'm a long term Bellevue resident and previously sold real estate in this area. Generally speaking this is a very safe area with public schools at the top of national rankings. Going into and out of Downtown Bellevue during rush hour is a total bitch, but there are gem routes that can shave significant time off your commute. Zillow's demographic information can give you a feel for the city as well. I strongly recommend you locate within or extremely close to Bellevue to preserve your sanity. I often argue we have the nation's worst traffic, unless you are going the same direction as most of the commuters, a ten mile drive guarantees an hour or more each way.
4) I have the best martini bar in the region or at minimum the best stocked one.
