Definitely talk to a vet about it. I've also noticed that female Pits tend to be less aggressive overall. In fact, I just saw one yesterday at a friend's place that was about the sweetest dog I've ever met.

My older brother brought a pit bull home a few years ago. We treated her nicely and trained her to not jump or bite. She has probably been the best dog we have owned. She scares people at the dog parks, but she has never gotten into any trouble. Best of luck to you.

All dogs are initially good regaurdless of size and breed.

More important is how the dog was raised and treated

yes it's about how your dog was raised and treated. my friend has pit bull and it's the happiest dog ever and on the other hand he also had a small (5-6lb) dog which he got for free he was a bitch.

Be super careful - any dog is a potential danger to little kids. One quick bite and a kids face is destroyed and his life is ruined. Why take that chance?

Your sig other would be okay with this?

Pit bulls are genetically predisposed to all sorts of issues, comes from all the inbreeding.

Just get another breed. Why risk it? There's a reason pit bulls are banned in some places...it isn't just a "bad rap"
