Paying Invoice for a '03?
Hello,
Since the '04 will be out in dealers in October, as well as the competition for the S, I believe paying invoice for a '03 is fair, however, some dealers locally think otherwise. Apparently, someone just bought a 02 demo with 5K on it for OVER MSRP.
Iam looking to order a Berlina, not purchase a in stock model, so please post (or pm me if you prefer) of suggestions. I am trying with fleet managers and internet departments, not salesmen, btw.
Many Thanks, guys and hopefully I will join you soon.

I never really felt that paying invoice is fair. As a business, would you want to sell something to a customer that you had to pay someone to order, unload and prep for the same price as you paid for the item from the manufacturer? You would also have to pay sales staff based on an hourly rate as they would not receive commission from the sale, which may be fair since the didn't have to work to get you to buy it, but, someone has to do the paperwork for you. You also need to factor in liability insurance for a business and all other related costs just to keep your front door open. You pay for this from sales of your products.
If you go to 7-Eleven, do you ask to pay invoice for the Snicker's bar?
In business, time=money.
I think MSRP is fair for this vehicle. So why not just wait for the '04s and buy one them for MSRP?
What is the invoice for an S2000 anyway?
Not trying to slam you or anything. If you do find a dealer that is willing to sell for invoice, cool. If not, certainly don't settle for anything over MSRP + TTL

Based on the info regarding the 04 S, I am not amused nor interested. Also, dealers make money on the sale at invoice. Its called dealer holdback, which is the actual price dealers pay (sometimes less), which is invoice minus 3%. So, they are making nearly 1K on the sale.
Chicago area dealers are selling 03 S2000s BELOW invoice, at 29,222, here: https://www.s2ki.com/imagecatalog/customima...mageview/64870/
I highly doubt they are losing money on this so why should I pay MSRP for the S that is in its fourth model year and other dealers are offering it for below invoice? But, I would rather purchase locally, if I can since I cannot inspect the vehicle.
Invoice is 29,800 I believe.
