Default Packwood A Stock

I thought I remembered reading or hearing that the S2000 is not competitive in A Stock, but was a butt kicker in B Stock. It did my heart good to see the S beating the Vettes. So what's the deal, is the S2000 a good AS car or not?

In my opinion, anyone who claims the S2000 is not competitive in AS is just bellyaching. It may not be the best car to have in AS, but it's definitely competitive.

Then again, the top three BS cars beat the AS winner at Packwood.

True on both counts... but the top three in BS beat the AS winner at every event but one last year. And the BS winner beat the AS winner there, too. Car may have less to do with the AS / BS flip-flop than driver. BS was not weak at all (GH Sharp was 4th!) and AS was rather thin on top-notch talent.

One of the top AS C4 Vettes was there but the associated top AS C4 Vette DRIVER was not... there's where the competition will really come in, when Scott McHugh is in the car.

I was even heckling you (from the timing trailer) on Sunday, Andy, as it took to your last run to beat the BS GIRLS for Sunday runs! You know that yellow is faster anyway....

Even my daughter knows yellow is faster. Or at least flashier.

I'm bummed I didn't drop the hammer on the class on Saturday. I could have, just drove like crap. Then on Sunday, I could have gone for it on my last run, but I didn't need to. I just needed to improve and be clean. So, in summary, I didn't drive fast... just fast enough.

We're still figuring out the 225/265 setup with the 710's. Its interesting. I ran four different rebound setting on the front shocks during the weekend. If I'd started with the last one, I'd have been quite a bit faster each day. At least that's my story.

I still think 225's all around is the right setup for Topeka. The tall 265's just won't be the right tires for the Nationals courses. The gearing will just kill the car.
