One Day Trip to Downtown Seattle
I'll be heading down to Seattle sometime this week with the lady friend. Any suggestions for what to do there would be greatly appreciated.
For example, a nice place to have lunch before some afternoon shopping. Afterall, it is her birthday.
Thanks in advance.

Pacific Place for shopping in downtown. See also rainier Square and that should do you well (or broke in this case).
Food?
need to know what you like....
but plenty of good stuff from Asian, to Japanese, to Korean, to Italian, to quaint to sushi and steaks etc...
let me know what you are looking for and I'll give you my recommendation..

Shopping's all the same. Good stuff you see in Robson also available in the Pacific Place/Westlake area of downtown Seattle. That's pretty much Seattle's main shopping district.
For lunch, just head over to Pike Place and eat while walking around people watching. There are plenty of small vendor shops that make great food. Diverse selection. Buy a rather healthy bouquet of flowers for her birthday for $15-20.
That's about it for an afternoon stroll through the downtown area.
Skip Pioneer Square all together.

My recommendation would be lunch at fisherman's on the waterfront or the Blue Water Bistro on Lake Union. There is also a great coffee shop on the top of Queen Anne called El Diablo that my girlfriend and I frequent. Some breathtaking views of the Seattle skyline can be seen from Kerry Park on the way back down Queen Anne hill, if you take a right on Highland Ave the park will be on your left.
As for shopping, Pacific Place would be my first stop, then if you take a stroll over to Westlake (weather permitting) you will find a wide array of random shops on your way there as well as some interesting characters roaming the streets. Hope this helps, good luck!
