Oil Changes
#13
I had them put the "real" honda oil from the bottles in rather than the super cheapie stuff so it was $49 incl/ tax. Still not on synthetic since the car's so new.
But Parker was nice enough to watch over my car like a hawk and had the guy check the diff & tranny fluids.
While it would be just as easy and cheaper to do it ourselves (which we do for all our other cars) I've always liked taking my cars that are under warranty to the dealer - then if something goes wrong they have the opportunity to find & fix, and I've even had an Acura dealer in Denver absorb non-warranty work on my first Type R since I'd religiously serviced it at Acura of Lynnwood - just extra insurance for me.

I bring in the oil (Mobil1 6-pack from Costco) and filter (oversized Mobi1 filter) and Honda of Bellevue provides the crush washer, labor, and disposal for ~$16.

DIY... our cars are one of the easiest to do. So easy to get to the filter compared to my previous cars.
Speaking of oil filters...
Does anyone here want to get in on the HAMP Oil Filter GB with me? Freakin HOB wants to charge me $10 plus tax for an oil filter for the S.

Tom,
Tell Randy or whoever's at the parts counter at HOB that you're a buddy of mine and they should give you a discount.
Screw HAMP or Mobil supersized filter. Stick with the Toyo Roki OEM Honda ones.
Cheers,
Ben

Hate to say this, but I still have no clue what the average price is for an oil change at HOB. I am thinking Ted may be the bright one and bringing in his own synthetic.
I would never have thought about having them change my oil because it would be a PITA for me because of where I live, and the fact that I work at night. Being that they are open 24x7 is awesome and on my way home. Granted I only drive prolly a 100 miles a month on it, but it is nice to know.

BTW the service drive is only open until 9pm, so while there will be people there into the wee hours, when I was there someone said "tell Jerry he's wrong"...
And when I do synthetic changes I do the same thing as Ted - I bring my oil. That definitely saves some money.
