And I *never* said all rural white folks are all bad or even implied that they are in the majority.

I did say that there sure are some NASCAR fans that scare the shit out of me though!

One other thing: I'm so glad you didn't compare NASCAR to the Mariners.

And I never forget we are all Sebring/Silverstone brothers.

Can you tell me in your opinion where exactly I laid into rural whites?
Definately an overstatement, my apologies. But I know a lot of very good people who go to NASCAR races who would take offense to being seen as racist, homophobic, xenophobic, etc.

Time to return to lurk mode, I think.

Apology gladly accepted. It's been fun - and thought provoking as usual.

your blind pansy ass friend... (at least according to MikeinKent)

liggy

I'll let you guys in on a little secret. Once I got drunk and went to a "Mud Bog and Tractor Pull" at the Kingdome. Pretty amusing.

You should go up to Evergeen Speedway sometime and watch the local boys race. I did it once, and it was rather fun. Much more fun than watching oval tracks on TV. And the Figure8 Schoolbus race was a trip. Best is the Hornets, though. Gotta go on a night when they run the Hornets.

My S2K did look a little out of place in the parking lot, though.

At least he didn't call you something really insulting, like "conedodger".

Much better to be white in Japan than Korean or Chinese or Filipino.
Is that a legacy of the war? We beat Japan, but Japan pretty much walked all over Korea, China, and the Phillipines.

My S2k looked out of place the last time NASCAR came to Pacific Raceways.

Imagine this scenario - two years from now Toyota runs a Camry in NASCAR. I'm at Darlington and the Camry wins it's first race.

I'm not sure I'd like to be an Asian guy in that crowd.
How about a half Asian guy, although I don't really "look" Asian. I'll even leave the Chevy at home and take the S2000! Here's an interesting article regarding NASCAR and diversity...

Call me paranoid - but I'd drive the Chevy.

I read about the "Drive for Diversity" on the Jimmy Spencer board.

Imagine their reaction to the program. I was quite amused.
