We're in our early 30s, so I feel a place that is quiet, but accessible to food, entertainment, and walkable is important. Neighborhood-y yet hip I guess.
Wallingford sounds like it could be a good fit. The eating choices are good, there's a few nearby grocery stores, and there are decent drinking options that aren't too rowdy. It's also really close to SLU without being in SLU or Eastlake, which are both nice areas, but don't have as many food / entertainment options. Ravenna is just a little further north of Wallingford, and has the same vibe, while also having a high probability of finding a good parking situation. It's also close to Green Lake, which seems to be a popular dog walking spot.

I will also say being super close to work isn't always a healthy thing. I like getting away from the office and having a bit of a commute helps de-stress.

Not that I am saying to do this, but this is an option if you end up working for Amazon at Rufus 2.0. Rufus 2.0 are the three building being constructed now for Amazon by Westlake and 6th Ave in Seattle/Belltown area. Speaking of short commutes, when I was single I used to have a 1.0 mile commute at my old job, I basically got off at 3 PM and was home by 3:10, so having a short commute is sweet cause you have a lot more time left over, and are not stressed out from the traffic, but you will have to pay more. With that said Via6 is a brand new place built close by if you demand that sort of living(Manhattan-ish), and dogs are allowed. In my opinion, getting some greenery is preferred though. Just giving you another option so you can make the best decision.

Oh and I almost forgot, there is a restaurant in the lobby and bar with outside access for outside dining, whole foods, space needle, theatres, jazz club, westlake mall, and other clubs are all within walking distance.

Ah, I didn't know that building was called Rufus 2.0... We nicknamed it "Amazon testicles" months ago.

I'm also in the same boat, did you ever find a place with a garage? There's places I see down town with parking garages but paying $200 for a parking space when my girl and I have 2 cars is ridiculous.
