Lotus of Portland Event at PIR on Monday, 10/6
Lotus of Portland (under the leadership of its parent company, Motocorsa) will be holding its second track event at PIR on Monday, 6 October.
For information go to http://www.motocorsa.com/index.cfm?fuseact...ntent.trackDays. To register, call Motocorsa at (503) 292-7488.
I run the instruction program for these events. Eddie Nakato of Adrenaline Racing handles the tech line. Dave Levy of Cedar Ridge Fabrication coordinates instructor-student pairings.
Stock S2000s without aftermarket rollover protection are permitted.
Hope to see some of you out there.
Best,
CB

Your'll get four or five sessions, depending on the number of groups. Our events are typically more lightly attended, so you you'll get plenty of track time. After three good sessions, I'm spent anyway.
Open cars require some form of rollover protection, so a first or second generation stock Miata will not qualify (I don't know if the third gen cars have rollover protection). Stock rollhoops on an S2K, however, qualify. A Miata with a SCCA approved (or other sactioned body) rollbar also qualify. Cosmectic bars or rollbars without at least four points of attachment do not.
Any SA or M 2000 or later helmet is okay. Anything earlier is not. I am not familiar with DOT helmet ratings. If this is an issue, call the folks at Motocorsa to ask them if it's okay.

News flash:
Registration for this event has been unusually light. I spoke with the Motocorsa folks this evening, and we have agreed to include motorcycles in the event. In order to do that, we are closing the event to novices and will run a combined intermediate/advanced group limited to a total of 20 cars. Any novices already registered will be given a credit for their fee and (for the inconvenience) given a free pass for another event next season. Note that this is my understanding of the deal. For details (and "firm" information), pls. contact Motocorsa directly.
The good news for you intermediate and advanced drivers is that we are adding only 2 motorcycle groups, which means (when you do the math) you'll get in more total track time across the day than you would have with a traditional four-group structure. We will also not be running the chicane, which is a neat twist for those of you who've not had the chance before to drive, full throttle, into the braking zone for Turn 4.

True to historical pattern, there were no S2000s at this event. Too bad, too, as I got in 170 track miles across five thirty minute sessions, and I skipped the first session in the morning as I had some organizational duties I needed to handle. Four of my sessions were totally dry. You guys missed a good day.
