How often are seats stolen in Seattle?
I've recently become interested in owning an S2k. Commuting via motorcycle for the last 6 winters is taking its toll, and I'm finding it much more tedious than fun. An S2k seems to be the next best thing to a motorcycle. A test drive matched my expectations.
I'm concerned by what appears to be the ridiculously high rate of seat theft. I didn't think it was that common until I looked at the "craigslist seat tracking" thread and saw new posts every single day.
I'd have to park the car on the street. I live in West Seattle. Is it basically guaranteed that my car would get broken into in order to steal the seats? I want reliable transportation, and a car that's constantly being vandalized is not.
Thanks!

Hardtop might work ?????
It's not a motorcycle when it has a roof, especially one as claustrophobic as the S2k's cabin with the top down.

You're parking it on the street. Is it on a busy street or intersection? If there's a lot of traffic driving through, then it's always being seen?
In or near your area do you have access to:
- parking garage?
- storage rental?
- covered parking/carport?
or
- car alarm?
- motion sensor?
- seat locks?
- insurance? Wait..... Insurance? Who has insurance? Sorry, dumb question
If you decide on the car, pm this guy: Kodokan_4
Being indecisive over a car..... An S2000? If it's becoming a tough choice, then I say don't do it.
Although, I know of a car that sat for nearly 9 months outside and nothing happened to it.....

The neighborhood you park in obviously has a large impact in this discussion. A West Seattle address might not be a good idea. Is there anyway to get garage space?

Where in West Seattle? Regardless of where you are, I'm inclined to say that leaving the car on the street will catch up to you eventually- although in the nicer/quieter neighborhoods in the area, eventually may be quite a long time
