You'll hear a very loud BANG!
I was in Vancouver, BC when it blew up in 1980. It was felt all the way up there. As far as I remember, ashes were falling in as far away places as Calgary, Alberta.

Stay safe everyone! Especially those in Vancouver, WA.
My dad said he had a layer of ash on his brand new Trans-Am, and at the time was living here in Red Deer, Alberta.

I've always found Mount St Helens so interesting because of how it kind of affected our area of the world so personally.

i watched the news last night and they talked to one of the scientists studying mt. st. helens, and he said if it even blows, it wont be anything like before. he said that if it does erupt, it would hardly even be noticeable unless you're looking down in the dish

My family moved to Washington on May 18th 1980 (day of the big boom). We drove around the police roadblocks to make it through. That was a wierd day. Looked like the world had ended. We were the only two cars on the freeway. Had to drive side by side to even see. When we came out the other side of the closed area the police wanted to where we came from. They couldn't figure out how we got through. We didn't tell them we waited for an 18 wheeler to do his u-turn that kicked up enough ash that the patrol couldn't see us drive around the roadblock.
