Has the S2000 made you into a sports car snob?

I've driven the NSX. It's a nice car but it's problem is it's price. While other cars can justify a higher price bracket, name recognition/performance, I feel the NSX has a lot of shortcomings.
The exterior is still a nice draw but styling hasn't changed much since it's debut over 10 years ago.
The interior is just as plain as the s2k's, but some features like the stereo and dash display looked straight out of the 90's. (keep in mind I test drove a 2000 I think). The same can be said about the s2k but with 30,000 dollars more I should feel like I'm sitting in a porsche and not surrounded by cheap japanese plastic.
Straight line acceleration didn't seem that much more impressive...if at all. If acceleration is close to the same, I'd rather take the sound of an engine screamin at 8900 rpm.
Price just doesn't justify the car.

the NSX isn't at the S2000's level, even the new ones. it's just a real 90s type design.
i will say though that given the choice between a '97 NSX and an S2000 let's say... i'd pick the NSX. with the right mods, it can look downright sexy. stock it looks weak... just like the s2000.
give me a silver nsx and add the marga hills full aerokit, slam it wide as possible 17/18 FM-10s with some dish and people will gawk. add the supercharger to make it a legitimate straight line player. even better if it's the new redesign front end with HIDs. but yea with these mods you're staring straight at a 911 GT3 or Turbo... but what you get is a car that'll attract a lot more attention and just as fast if not faster.
tough call. i'd probably go after the 911 at this point... so no nsx for me.

You pretty much follow my same thought WRS2K, but my main gripe with the NSX was it's price.
Not sure how much NSX's go for now (and too lazy to look it up) but when I was in the market, their resale value was still quite high, Low to mid 40's.. sometimes you'd see one with high mileage for high 30's. Maybe just because I was looking in seattle. So the decision between a S2K and a NSX was very clear at the time.
but going to a NSX now from a S2K, I'd rather go for a much clearer upgrade such as an elise.
(nice car RT )

It's not at all clear to me that an Elise is an "upgrade" over an S2000. That all depends on what you want to use it for, of course. Off the track, an S2000 is probably a better choice than an Elise in almost any catagory of comparison.

hehe... with that composite body I'd be afraid to park an Elise on the street.
i'm officially jealous. my buddy Daryl is driving home now with his newly purchased '04 911 GT3.
at least I get to drive it once in a while.

No bumpers means that a typical 'park by feel' incident can cause 5 to 8 thousand dollars worth of damage.
