See what I mean... you gotta make some concessions in terms of nimble feel, weight, drop top, no drop top etc....

the new M3 looks promising and i'm sure it won't disappoint, but again, it's a GT bruiser just like the current one. i would absolutely love to try out the new M5 or better yet the M6.

i drove a C5 and i'm sure the Z06 is a lot faster, but the interior sux and the looks i'm not big on. I respect the Z06 and think the new one is a performance value, but can't/don't want to roll in a corvette and insurance is killer i bet.

cayman... great car i'm sure, but it's not a 911. it's a hardtop boxster S. i'd love to flog one, but i know i'd like the 911 better simply because there's more power and it's got them hips.

Jeff, this new S4 tried to race me on 520... sittin on polished HREs. i wish the traffic was clear cuz i know he would've ran me.

I'm keeping my s2000 until the new Skyline GTR is coming out. As long as it's released in the U.S. and under 70k I'm pretty sure it's going to be my next car.

I'm pretty sure that around april of 2006 I'll also be buying a EVO/STI as a secondary car.


I of course will probably end up selling both the cars in 07 for the GTR if it's as good as I'm hopin it'll be

IMHO, the 987 Boxster S is a clear winner over the S2000 in everything but price. I think it's much better looking than the 997 Cabriolet. I can't think of any open topped car I would rather own this side of $100k.

I'm disappointed that nobody mentioned a nsx.

Any of you have driven one before?? There are quite a bit owners of nsx had owned and driven s2k. Almost all love the S2k's intense driving experience. (I still haven't had a chance to drive it on track, don't know how it's like, but on the street, I always felt S2k as getting high, very exjoyable, and it doesn't have to be downright scary triple digit fast.)

Just wonder what's your opinion based on (comparing?) S2k owner's perspective...

I've driven the NSX. It's a nice car but it's problem is it's price. While other cars can justify a higher price bracket, name recognition/performance, I feel the NSX has a lot of shortcomings.

The exterior is still a nice draw but styling hasn't changed much since it's debut over 10 years ago.

The interior is just as plain as the s2k's, but some features like the stereo and dash display looked straight out of the 90's. (keep in mind I test drove a 2000 I think). The same can be said about the s2k but with 30,000 dollars more I should feel like I'm sitting in a porsche and not surrounded by cheap japanese plastic.

Straight line acceleration didn't seem that much more impressive...if at all. If acceleration is close to the same, I'd rather take the sound of an engine screamin at 8900 rpm.

Price just doesn't justify the car.

NSX just looks like sex. The interior looks pretty good with the exception of the dated looking steering wheel. The cassette deck and oversized antenna are pretty retro. I still love the NSX though.

haven't driven the new boxster S and i trust your summation (kinda extending your thinking) that the 987 S feels better than the 997 Cab. i agree about the 987 S > S2000.... but in the fun department, i think they're still too close where if one picks the s2000 over the boxster s... it's not necessarily a crazy move.

but i'd still rather have the cab because if i'm spending that kinda benjamins, i want more power and more of a bruiser type car than a lighter more auto-x worthy car. plus it's that 911 number that does something to some.


the 911 just looks like a much more serious car. was following one today in fact.. a regular carrera 997 cab... dare i say that sucker looked pretty good for a stock car.


but nothing's confirmed till i get a chance to drive the boxster S. i know that i very much enjoyed the 997 S coupe drive. it's a fast car and feels light on its feet.
