Controversy makes the world go round. I'd rather bitch about small things that should be changed than big things that won't be changed. Plus, like I said earlier, it's fun to be quixotic.

I've already signed an online petition to get another bill introduced. A bill from a few years ago to do the same thing already died, but I wrote my representative a letter trying to garner support for it. It's not like I'm only complaining online.

For humorous reference, I've also attempted to bring up the issue of lane splitting with motorcycles to representatives, a few have been trying to legalize it like California has. Until then, I will risk life and limb to do so illegally on occasion

When we were down there in March, Dad was surprised when these motorcycles started shooting past us between the lanes. I told him it was legal. Not too many chose to go right past us, though. F250 hauling a car trailer takes up a lot of space.

Hopefully they weren't shooting past too quickly...I think you can't be going more than 10 MPH faster than the traffic you're passing, and only if they were below the speed limit, anyway.

It was stop and go. "Shooting by" was only a relative measure.

So just out of curiosity and because I don't care enough to research it on my own- has the state clearly published anywhere why they require front plates?

They give pretty much the obvious answer ... it's to identify cars if the observer only gets a look at the front.

I wonder how much money the state could save by not making an extra plate.

About $7/car. But since they charge us for the plates, it's no big deal to their budget.

[QUOTE=124Spider,May 20 2009, 02:37 PM] You two are just determined to somehow find ways to bitch about the consequences, all entirely predictable, of refusing to obey a clearly-written law.

No, it is not "the state's job to write out tickets in such a way to make the actuaries happy."
