hey wos
it wasn't 100% officiating. we had some real chances to win. the officiating was definitely going against UW. Did you watch the game or are you just talking shit?
how is it that uconn got 47 free throws vs. 23? was the uw that dirty?

The Double-T was silly. Refs thinking they were the game we had come to watch.
The non-call on the goaltend changed the whole game. And Roy was getting hammered inside, while Dentman got called for a non-foul out in the open court.
No, overall it wasn't unfair officiating, but the officials were not up to the quality of the game in the last few minutes and in OT. Too bad.

the dentman phantom call was bs. the non-goaltend was also bs. the double T call was bs. overall i would say the officiating was unfair but that game could have been won in spite of the officiating. roy got hammered throughout the entire game but only got a couple calls.
it seems that all the uw folks were classy enough not to blame the officials. i am not.
and yes, will - it is just a game. that being said - bite me.
i'll be over it tomorrow. right now i'm still pissed.

a few of the calls were just bad, no ifs/ands/buts. UW played a great game up until they took Roy out, and pretty much lost their momentum at that point. That and the last 6 or so points uconn scored before OT were just too easy to get.

It shouldn't have mattered -- they played it perfectly for a 40 minute game. Jones and Jenson fouled out with less than a minute to go (both on kind of silly fouls they should not have made) but the UW should have been able to just barely hold on.
It was the 6 point swing with Roy out of the game due to the double T that really hurt them. Some of those fouls came because they had to play even harder with him out, and they lost his scoring during UConn's run.
But they were toast when it went to OT. Everybody had 4, so nobody could play D. It was their outstanding, amazing D that had kept them in front all game long. Once they couldn't play it anymore (and they had already lost their two best defenders in Jones and Jenson), they were toast.
And yet, even so they still managed to make it close. If the goal tend had been called, who knows what might have happened?
UW was overrated early in the season, but by the end of the season they were one of the 5-10 best teams in the country. It's their D that really made them so good. But if it was easy to get into the Final Four (even for one of the best teams in the country), it wouldn't be the big deal that it is.
Should be a good team next year, but it will be hard to replace Jenson, Jones, Roy, and Williams. Might have to wait two years before Dentman, Hawes, Smith, and Brockman are really in top form. Joel Smith could be outstanding once out of Roy's shadow, but he makes too many mistakes. He'll have to tighten that up. Appleby is a Jr (I think, not sure, those transfer rules....), so they'll have to do it next year if he's going to play a part.
Barring injuries, this should be the team to beat in 2008. Number 1 seed, Pac10 champs, you name it.
And whatever will they do without Zane Potter?
