That's not necessary if you reset the ECU using the backup fuse. It's only required if you do it by disconnecting the battery.

I've also had the joy of letting the battery run down so far that the radio did lock up, and then I had to go find the dang code.

It's a 7.5 amp fuse.

IIRC, it's actually the second one on our cars, because that 10 amp fuse at the far left is a DRL fuse for Canuckian cars.
