Looks like we aren't going to make it this year. The refrigerator decided to stop working and we had to purchase a new one. There goes our Seattle trip money. Have a good time folks.

I just cancelled our reservations at the Bavarian Lodge so there is a room available.

Has the departure time and the route been set yet? We would like to hook up with the group but don't want to drive all the way down to Factoria and back up to Mount Vernon. If you go up Highway 9 will you be going over on 530 to get up to 20 or stay on 9. We live in Big Lake just off of 9 so it would be easy to meet up either way. If you get up here for lunch (it might be a bit early) the "Big Lake Bar and Grill" is a local favorite.

G-tard asked me to post some maps of the route for those who won't be starting in Factoria...

Route A - AKA the "I hate interstates route". Includes stop at Big Lake Bar & Grill for late lunch (12:30 ETA). Total drive time is ~7 hours, so figure arriving in Leavenworth at 7 pm (1 hour for lunch).

Route B - "I hate interstates AND Mt Vernon route". Doesn't stop for lunch, uses 530 instead. Depending on what everyone does for lunch, this should put you in Leavenworth around 630 pm (30 minutes, give or take, for lunch).

I don't know if it makes sense to stop for lunch 90 minutes into a 7 hour drive, so I'd assume Route B will be the preferred.

Alternate means for those who can't meet up at 11am: US2 is decent and will take about 3 hours. I90 + US97 + US2 west is boring as snot but will get you there in about 2 1/2 hours.

Actually, those maps are for everyone... I meant to say they were so the people not starting in Factoria can time their meeting up.

Anyone need a roommate/have a bathtub I can sleep in?

I was gonna call and reserve the room that Mr. "I-need-cold-food" backed out of (where are your priorities, man?! )... but then my roommate who was gonna come with cancelled and frankly, i'm too cheap to reserve a room for just me.

Anyone need/willing to tolerate a roommate?

A couple years ago I tried driving the 530 (mountain loop highway) and it was closed (or maybe just dirt, can't remember) somewhere around Darrington. Are we sure the roads there are OK now?
I think it's paved.
