So as noted in the dyno day interest thread I visited MPS in Lynden yesterday to have the S dynoed. It had 975 miles on it so I figured it was time to collect a baseline. Crescent Kao (c-speedracing.com and long time friend) was tuning the A&J Time Attack S2K so I came hand out and check that out.

I searched around for some stock dyno plots and didn't have a ton of luck but from what I've seen on S2KI stock ap2's are putting around 200/135-140.

What I learned: Velocity stacks work. The motor makes a lot of noise when the top of the air box is off. Stock AP2's run extremely rich. The plot from below is of run 2 and run 4. Run 2 (blue line) is with the air filter on and top of the air box off. Run 4 was with the velocity stack.

Results for those that are unable to read the fine print at the bottom: HP 203.84 TQ 141.56 stock and HP 204.52 TQ 144.63 w/ velocity stock.

Let me know the next time you dyno. I wouldn't mind throwing my AP2 on the dyno, but would want at least another AP2 there.

Hey Zach,
Congrats on the new S2000. What did the Spoon 2.2 AJR put down for power?

Also, what were you using for a velocity stack? I dyno'd my S2000 with a modified PRM intake back-to-back with just a velocity stack mounted directly to the stock rubber intake tube and lost about 20 hp with the V-stack.

GOOD numbers. i kinda gave up fiddling with in the intake, unless it was to put a SC in its place, more power is to made through tuning and exhaust.

Let me guess, you weren't measuring coolant or intake temperatures as part of your runs?

I wondered WTF a "velocity stack" was, so I googled it. Turns out it's just a bellmouth inlet. (And yes, they work. Avoids the Venturi effect due to separation from the lip of a straight inlet.)

Hey Jared,

I didn't realize it was you til I reread the post. How's it going? I just pulled the filter off and attached it to the tube. It is a Blox Vstack but I don't have a filter that will work with it yet so it's taking up space. I'm back to the stock filter for now. I'll PM you with info on the AJR car. Not sure if Ben wants it known publicly.
