I hear ya and thanks for passing on the tip.
Seems like lots of the radar detector dribble is splitting hairs, and in the end, since "real police radar" is so fuqing strong wattage wise that what you really need is less sensitivity (and/or a detector w/ smarts/logic) to keep the Boy Who Cried Wolf at bay (cause that Boy is bad news)
High wattage sources have a shallower degradation profile vs distance as compared to weaker, false signals. Armed with that knowledge and the additional info the V1 gives you, it's pretty easy to "see" the traps that you are going to be able to see and, like MadKimchi says, the ones you're not going to "detect/see" are going to nail you anyway, no matter how many X, K, Ka, whatever Band range hairs get split bench racing detectors. In the real world, range is about the 5th on the priority list while most reviews weight it in the top 3

Low mounted, inconspicuous, squelched and confused is cool for my intentions
BTW, V1 has different firmware versions available with some Bands detuned intentionally. Put that in your iPhone and smoke it

Now if we want to talk about screwed up radar detectors ...... I remember lawrence (aka the father of my first child) had some crazy POS that would set everybody elses detector off the entire duration of the Group Drives he used to participate in ......... I was glad when him and Kathy stopped showing up! j/k
so ray with your 55 years of v1 real world experience, do you have like a bullet list of how you avoid speed traps/ getting caught with your pants down with the lovely detector?

Judging by the Pat's Acres trip a few years ago, rule #1 would be to not be "playing" with Russ on the freeway.

love these 2007 s2000 newbies coming in here making recommendations to the og/RTs of this place.
By "these 2007 s2000 newbies" I assume you mean me since I made the recommendation. What was I thinking making a suggestion to an og? How newbish of me. Perhaps the suggestion should be pointed at you with all the tickets you're picking up I'm just a relative baby though with only 16 years of driving experience (and one speeding ticket). Maybe I am a newbie afterall

..... that'd be but one of the afore mentioned instances where I ain't blaming the equipment ....... plus, 130+ in a 65 (or 70) is pretty fuqing stupid no matter what your Russ related excuse might be.

BTW, got cited for an illegal lane change, which got deferred and has since melted away (there's that luck component I spoke of kick'n in full strength )

Sorry to say, but me thinks it's 4% the wiley veteran and 96% Karma so you're pretty much fuqqed on that razor thin to negative count

damn almost got pulled over yesterday!!!!!!

on my way home from work i took 405 south bound and it was jammed at bellevue like always so i took the side road right between 405 and hilton hotel. right now there are some constructions going so i think speed limit is 25mph at the moment and i think we (car infront of me and i) were going about 35-40mph and my v1 picked up laser signal. i looked around didn't see any cop and next thing i notice, a man wearing all black is walking towards the middle of the road from a parking lot! and sure it was a cop with laser gun! thankfully car infront of me got pulled over! thank you whoever was in front of me! and that cop was a sneaky bastard!

don't get your panties in a bunch dude.

i don't care if you had 1000 yrs of driving exp. it's what exp u have here. which is newbie status.
Attitudes like yours is what kept me from going to Taco's before I did. I'm glad I did finally go b/c I met some really cool people and saw someone I hadn't seen in a while. My wife and I were warmly welcomed as "newbs" by every person there which is quite a departure from your attitude. I don't want to take away from the thread any longer. Take it to PM from here if you'd like to take this further.

Zach
