Why settle for 10.5's when you can go 11.5. What a bunch of pu$$ay's

Shawn, we have discussed wheels/tires a bit already... but some more to think about. If your going to stick with 17's then you will be running 255's. 275/40/17 isn't as practical of an option, fitment and weight sucks and so does the gear ratio. So If your going to run 255's you can do this on an 8.5" wheel yes, but its going to be slightly pinched. You would actually get better fitment and performance aiming for a wheel in the 9-10"... and if you chose to try out a 275/40 at some point you actually could. If you jump up to an 18 you have more available widths to choose from in lower profiles, picking the right offset is the other half in determining how the wheel sits with the car... so remember to keep this in mind when purchasing. With a 255 in mind you will need a min of +45 offset to make those fit without fender rolling/cutting and major camber. +88 is where I'm at right now, but you wont get into offsets like this until your over 11" wide.

Judging from your signature, it looks like you will be drag racing. I believe you run into a point where you reach diminishing returns when it comes to drag racing in regards to width of the tire. At some point the width does not help at all and probably hurts your times more than having a narrower street tire (increased weight with no more traction).

The compound and construction of the tire play a larger part in getting good times. Maybe you could buy some slicks and break your differential in the process?
