Default Dangerous road work near 196th Lynnwood exit?

Hi

I drove to Seattle on Saturday afternoon and I saw a van ahead of me jump sideways out of it's lane about 200 feet ahead of me. It was raining and I was keeping up with the van doing about 60 mph in the middle or fast lane, I forget.

When I caught up to where the van swerved, my S2000 jumped violently to the side and I proceeded to fishtail 3 or 4 times and slow to about 40 mph in the process as I nearly spun out!!!!

1. There was no standing water on the road

2. There was roadwork and some new lines painted on the road and others were "removed" and faded.

3. I believe the road there is grooved due to construction

Of course, I had some white knuckles after this!!! my girlfriend was asleep in the passenger seat and was completely unaware until her head smashed the passenger window.

Anyone aware of the stretch of highway I'm talking about? This was south bound and the first sign I noticed after this happened was about 30 seconds down the road and I believe it was the 196th Lynnwood exit OR it said 1 1/4 miles to the 196th Lynnwood exit.

Wow, I can't believe the highway was in that bad of shape. I was paying attention and thanked my lucky stars I didn't end up getting owned by road work.

if it was raining, there was water in the ruts. With the exception of downtown seattle/u district, it's one of the worst rutted sections on 5.

My S2000 has a tendency to "tram" on that portion of I-5. I'm guessing it's due to the combination of the ruts in the road plus my Bridgestone S03's. It makes for a rather jerky driving experience. The car seems to have a mind of it's own and it requires my undivided attention.

I know exactly where you're talking about. it's almost like a diagonal groove that gets your car changing lanes even when you're holding tight to the steering wheel. Happens on other cars too, not just the S. No clue why they leave it like that... but beware of that part on 1-5 Southbound north of alderwood mall.

Yet another spot to watch out for is on Hwy 16 going towards Gig Harbor and Bremerton before and on the overpass above Pearl St. If you aren't holding on tight to the wheel with both hands on this stretch of road it can be a real eye opener

Yeap... it's rather scary if you unaware of the road condition.

My wife always yelled at me when I crossed there... (it feels like I was jerking my car...)

It's a rather weird experience.... If you are changing lanes at that section, it feels like you are driving a speed boat and ride over a wave....

It's been there at least for couple years... Really there's no reason for it. All it take is a big trucker or bus flipping over and kill couple guys, then guess they will reconstruct the roads...
