car got broken into by the space needle

If Esurance is anything like most companies, the hard top would be covered, the radar detector won't be. Anything that is physically attached to the car is usually covered. Stuff (radar detectors, iPods, CD cases) that's "in" the car isn't.
Sucks.

just got off the phone with the insurance company and looks like ill be taken care of. of course theres always a catch, they are claiming they are entitled to use after market parts. is that true? i thought if you get into an accident, you have the right to use OEM parts, not OEM like. I know ive almost been screwed over that way a few years ago. the guy at the body shop kept insisting it was the exact same as i was leaving their body shop to take my business somewhere else. As soon as he got the idea, he instantly said they were able to use OEM parts without additional charge. i normally dont read the fine print, so id just throught id ask, and got a friendly reply " yeah of course we use oem like" and tried to sneak that word in there lol.
Im pretty sure there isnt a oem hardtop styled hardtop thats after market.

There are own style like hardtops. But they don't fit as well. By law you are entitled to fix your car back to the way you want it. Take only NEW oem parts. Take no less. Don't let them screw you with junkyard replacements.
