Brier cops...

I think the term Homophobia has a broad meaning. I think it could be characterized as someone who is simply afraid to be around gay people and that is the depth of which that fear goes, or it could be someone who is anti gay and acts out in a manner to hurt people. There is multiple depths to that term and I dont think it is fair to toss around without consideration.

Hey there.
Don't know you, but please don't mischaracterize what I've said.
I realize many of you don't share my opinion, and that's fine. But I am not homophobic, and I actually consider (as do others) that to be a pejorative term.
I never said gays shouldn't be cops. I never said I wouldn't allow gays to frisk me. I'd prefer to have it done by a male straight officer. I also realize other people don't share this belief.

"Excuse me officer... my personal beliefs prevent all females and homosexual males from interacting with me in a public safety context. Can you show me your gay-free card before you toss me onto the hood of my car, apply cuffs, and search my person for weapons?"
The jury isn't going to have much sympathy at a wrongful arrest trial.
I believe I'm unfairly taxed, but I still send that check to the gub'mint every 90 days. You know what I mean?

Well, to be fair, I'm not really eager to frisked by the cops. Male, female, straight, gay, canine, whatever. I'd rather not be in that position at all.
Guys, I'm done with this thread. It was fun while it lasted, but what started as an earnest discussion has been brought down to name calling, as all threads with disagreement eventually do on the internets.
In closing, I respect everyone's opinion expressed here. The internet is serious business, I realize, so I apologize for stepping on anyone's toes.
Going back to work, now!
