Anyone live through a blood clot?
#21
only at 34 might want to follow up on it
u need 3 factors to form pathologic clots (virchow's triad)
stasis, injury, and coangulopathy
so first think if u been lying on bed for few days, or long plane trip to eliminate stasis
and any bumps or injuries to legs/calves
and try to remember if anyone in your family had clots
if first 2 is not significant, might want to check if u have hypercoangulative disorder
then again,
im only a student and i dont think the school will cover my liability here on the forum
so its not an actual advice
lol

Thanks for the extra questions to think about. I think this was a long term event. Now that I know what the problem is I think this has been off and on for about two years. Between work, driving, and video games I just was not circulating my body enough. I had minor symptoms to the intense pain I have now.
Ya don't worry about the liability you are simply suggestion questions for me to ask my doctor. :-) I mean medicine is a practice of symptomology and not a direct science. At least the majority of the time.

Well did get some good news. I haven't been checking my A1C in about two years. Diabetes test. I manage my diabetes on diet and exercise. Well it was 5.3 so that is one thing I don't need to worry about it. The other good news was that there is still some flow through the clotted vein. Now if my leg would stop hurting I would be happy. Anyone feel like they want to mow my lawn? LOL LOL LOL.

Thought I would give a small update to familiarize what the heck this whole blood clot thing is.
Scary !@@ @#$%. Well now that that is out of my system. LOL
Scary yes, life threatening yes, painful (for me) yes, and yes.
From what I can gather at this point the pain is at 35% of what it was when this started and I am at least back to a full day of work. By no means did I get the chance to get off pain meds but have forced myself to get off narcotic pain meds. I hate meds. The coumadin they have me on slow the clotting process so that there is not a build up of platelets ASAP on grounds. From what I can tell as long as you don't get major side effects of the medicine you can be on the stuff for many many years. So far I am lucky and only have slightly cold hands and feet. Oh and don't get cut or better yet stung by a bee. LOL I got stung on saturday and it is not a happy camper. I did find one of the mother loads of data on the medicine though. http://www.fda.gov/cder/foi/label/20...218s101lbl.pdf Sorry I am lazy and did not put it in a link. You would be lazy too. :-)
So long story even longer 35% improvement means maybe next week I can pick up my S2000 and have some fun. 15 minute drive shouldn't kill me. LOL Hope.

Best wishes from a fellow resident of the infirmary. I had surgery today, and those oxycodone pills are now my friends. Like you, I'm a little nervous about meds like this, but at least my history with pain meds is that I generally have had no interest in taking them once the pain ends.
I don't feel particular messed up, but I did just try to unlock the front door of my house by hitting the "unlock" key on my Element key fob, so hmmm. (And no, I wasn't driving around today. Thanks, Dad!)
