Yes, if you know what you are looking for and if it is doing it enough.

WHat?
Dude, so at that point all you know is that there wasn't a crazy over rev that put big a$$ cracks in the retainers ...... the small cracks you can't see are just as big a time bomb and you will still be wondering every night as you lay in bed :scared: so what exactly is the fuqing point of the half a$$ peek?

So I imagine that you can uh rock the rocker arm toward the opposing valve and it will lift up enough for you to see the other one, right?
Ray is correct, that you can't tell without taking the retainer off whether there are any small cracks or not. On the other hand, small cracks are not going to be immediately disasterous. Or maybe ever disasterous.
If the cracks are big enough that the retainers are starting to slip up the valve stem, then your valve is on it's way to eventually dropping into the cylinder. If they aren't, then it probably isn't.
You can see this with the valve cover off, if you know what you are looking for and if the damage is big enough. And if the damage is not big enough to be seen by someone who knows what to look for, it's probably not going to be an issue unless you overrev the car again.
But if you really want to be sure, you have to pull the retainers off, which is a much bigger job than just visually inspecting the height of the valve stems.

Seem like I can just use a dental mirror and flashlight and take a peek every 10K for any that are creeping up until I get sick of it and just replace them all.
