happened to my well maintained car. one out of a billion or trillion or 40K... bad on honda, period. doesn't make it any better for my situation because it only happened to me. not asking for any favors, but just a general dissatisfaction with glitches.

and on the favs... clearly in agreement.

The Voltage Regulator could be going bad. Sad thing is, that nowadays, it's intergraded into the alternator.
I'm begining to suspect my alternator/voltage regulator may have a problem as well.

Last week, I redlined the car in 5th gear and then went to shift into 6th. Once in 6th, I hit the throttle...but got no response whatsoever. The car was just coasting. I put it in neutral, look at my dash, and I see that the battery light is on. I also notice from my voltage indicator that the voltage has dropped from the normal 14.1 to 10.x. So I put the car back into 6th and hit the throttle again. Voila! Battery light goes off, meter reads 14.1 and the car accelerates. Very weird.

So a few days ago, I get through running the car pretty hard and I stop at a light. Light turns green, but when I go into first and hit the throttle, again no response. I look at my dash, and see the battery light is on again. I had to re-start the car to get going. Very annoying...

2 or 3 years ago I had the bright dash light thing happening. When the car was in for the 'Trans Fix' I had them look at it. I can't remember what they did at Lynnwood Honda but it has been ok after that.

So here is one for you ... dropping the top and hitting the start button at the same
time. Car starts .. Top goes down .. but not power assist steering ???
I drove it for a block and came back home to park it and get another car.
Steering is electrical so I tried to not make the computer 'walk and chew gum'
at the same time. reboot .. Turn off car .. count to 20 .. restart car and everything
is fine ???

Have a great weekend

After a day's worth of diagnosis work with Techline, it turns out it's the alternator.

We'll know for sure next week when it gets replaced.
