The Russians used them in the 50s. They're still in use in various places in some bastardized form or another.

Accuracy probably depends on who rebuilt it and how good of a job they did. I wouldn't use it as a sniper rifle.

I don't believe a companies rules supercede RCW's.
RCWs say that private property owners get to set the rules as to things like this. You carry a firearm onto Boeing property, and you get fired (if you are caught). Even if it's locked in your car when parked on a company-owned lot.

Oh I see so its a dated gun, not just a different model. What's the active time span with this gun, when was it used?

Whats the accurate range in yards for this gun? I'd rather have an AK but don't think I can get one of those.

The accuracy limit of an SKS begins at the end of the barrel if you are talking precision shooting. For a short range weapon, under 100 yards, it's a fine rifle. As a battle rifle it's not as flexible as an AK or late model AR but it's a decent rifle. The fact that it was repalced by the AK shouldn't be a reflection on it's quality or usability, the AK is without a doubt the finest battle rifle ever produced.

For the best all around shooter the SKS aint it. If you want distance, reliability, rate of fire, accuracy and durability most modern assault rifles will give you some combination of those attributes with emphasis on one or two. Pick your caliber, 5.56 or 7.62 and make a choice.

In the 5.56 world the AR style is the only choice. There are probably a few other makes out there but there is virtually a limitless choice of stlyes and variations of the spacegun. It is the Honda Civic of the gun world.

7.62 is a little different, there are a few AR styles availble and you will pay for them. The M1A/M14 (my personal rifle) is a solid and durable rifle that will go forever, it is heavy however. Most of the remaining 7.62 assault rifles are foriegn, FN, HK, Galil, AK and are good rifles with lots of bodies to their credit. Do your homework if this is where you want to go, it's expensive.

For the thin skinned targets roaming north american streets that might pose problems for you I would stick with the 5.56 weapons, they are cheaper to buy, cheaper to feed, easy to sell, and without a doubt more accurate than you are. They can be shot out to 500 yards with proper ammo with extreme accuracy at a range, ymmv in the hood. Beyond that range the 7.62 will be more accurate and have killing power to 1000 yards it but you better have crazy skillz because if you don't hit your target all you did was make noise.

Thanks for the info there. Appreciate it, i'll do some more research. So my assumption is that the 5.56 = 223 is that correct?
