I did the enduro last year and it was pretty cool. Different, but cool. They don't really encourage newbies for this particular event.

The following is information from BEAC - the event sponsors.

Note: there is 150 participant entry cap. Register soon to ensure
you get a spot.

Enduro XXVI - Sunday, 29 August 2004

EVENT OVERVIEW
Enduro is the 7th event of the WWSCC Championship Series. The format for
this event is different than for other events: rather than running the
course 4 separate times, participants get to run three consecutive laps
(after a warmup lap) in a "closed" course, with no stopping in between
laps. Although I have no information on how this format came about (I
was not working at Boeing twenty six years ago), I hear the ancient
romans practiced this kind of format during chariot races (back in the
early days of the Boeing Company.)

So, if you are a driver, this is what happens:
a) You stage next to the starter, at a location close to the course.
b) You enter the course, and run a warmup lap,
c) You run 3 laps around the course.
d) After crossing the start/finish line in your final lap, you exit the
course.
So, in total, you end up running four laps in a row: 1 warmup, 3 timed runs.

Each lap is timed and posted separately (i.e. 3 individual lap times
will be posted for each participant, just like a 3-run event.) Only your
fastest time is considered for your standings (again, just like other
events.)

Since participants get to run four laps in a row, opportunity for
overlap is minimal. Hence, the course tends to be a bit smaller than
usual (about 30 seconds per lap). The lack of overlap also makes for a
fairly long day. As such, we are limiting the number of entries to 150
participants. Please register soon to ensure a place in the event.

This is also a hard format to learn - and in which to learn.
Participants only get one chance to get their runs right, with no time
between runs to relax, catch your breath, find/talk to an instructor, or
think about which cones you hit or missed. Although novices are allowed
to participate, we strongly encourage first timers to pass on this event
and join us at future events (such as the BSCC practice/SCCA events over
Labor Day weekend, or the upcoming Sports Car Spectacular and ACE
Dogfight events, taking place on Saturday, October 2nd and Sunday,
October 3rd, respectively.)
As always, spectators are welcome (all must sign a waiver, of course.)

LOCATION:
Boeing Oxbow Recreation Center,
South 102nd Street,Tukwila WA.
(So what good is location without directions?)

DIRECTIONS:
From I-5, take exit 158 (west) toward Boeing Field. Make a right on E.
Marginal Way (heading north). At the second signal light (South 102nd
Street) turn left. (If you drive past the Concorde on E. Marginal, going
north, you've gone too far). After the stop sign (one block) drive over
the bridge. The event site will be on your left, after you come out of
the bridge. Turn left and follow the markers to the pit area.

PRICE:
Pre-register/PayPal payment: $20 USD
Pre-register and pay onsite: $20 USD
Register onsite and pay onsite: $25 USD

SCHEDULE:
Note that we will have 3 SESSIONS. Each session will have two run
heats. Thus, you'll work (or run), then you'll run (or work), then you
are done.

The run order is still TBD, but the first run session will probably be
stock groups, the second run session will be a mix of stock and
non-stock, and the third run group will be non-stock.

We'll post and distribute the run groups as soon as we figure it out -
within the next 48 hours.
Note also that we are considering performing tech inspection during
grid. Again, we'll post/distribute this information as we figure it out
(within the next 48 hours.) For now, however, please plan on tech
inspections taking place during the times posted below.

SESSION 1:
Registration: 7:00am - 8:00am
Tech Inspection: 7:15am - 8:15am
Drivers Meeting: 8:30am
First Car Out: 8:30am - 11:00am

SESSION 2:
Registration: 10:30am - 11:15am
Tech Inspection: 10:45am - 11:30am
Drivers Meeting: 11:30am
First Car Out: 11:45am - 2:15pm

SESSION 3:
Registration: 1:45pm - 2:30pm
Tech Inspection: 2:00pm - 2:45pm
Drivers Meeting: 2:45pm
First Car Out: 3:00pm - 5:30pm

FINAL NOTES:
Number of Laps - Note that you will get only four laps. It is important
for participants to pay attention to this during their runs.
Participants who do not exit the course immediately after their last lap
get a DNF for their last lap. Furthermore, if you get lost on course,
you will get red-flagged, which will count as a DNF for that current lap
(although you'll get to resume any remaining laps after getting you
settled down and pointing in the right direction.)

Grid - we'll have assigned gridding, similar (but not the same) as
gridding during National Tour events. Vehicles in the same class will be
assigned a set of grid spots (e.g. spots 1-8 for SuperStock). The idea
is to try to ensure that all cars in a class run at the same time.

As mentioned earlier, this is a harder format to figure out. Again, we
strongly encourage first timers and those who are not fully comfortable
participating in autocross events to participate in upcoming events
(which have the more traditional separate-run formats.)

And to all participants: on the day of the event, please make sure to
familiarize yourself with the starting, lapping, and exiting
locations/procedures in the course, and to make time to walk the course
sufficiently.

Is registration open yet? I don't see it, but then again I get a completely different site at work than I did earlier at home. Must be a transitional thing from the old site to the new one?

It looks like the new site is up and running - IIRC you can register @ the "Next Event" button on the left.

See you there!

Hmmm... I'll see if I can swindle Melinda into letting me do this. I get to test the strength of our bond since it's our anniversary that day. But hey, she has to work and I might be able to get some run time in before she is off of work

Then it's flowers, dinner, and a moonlight drive

I'll be there.

I forsee lots of waiting to run, and a long wait while we work the course.

This is where the really experienced guys will rock the newer guys, because it takes 3-4 runs for me to really nail down the course. Getting one shot at it, w/ no breaks in between will be interesting.

Even though I'm a novice I think im going to run. I think this format maybe easier for me then the traditional format. Plus I don't remember which cones I hit anyway.

BTW does anyone have any info on a autox practice that is suppose to be happening?

Sorry John - still working out details with BEAC on the auto-x practice. It may not happen this year.

We may have to shoot for early next year.

My only suggestion - show up early and walk the course as much as you can.
