Yes, Rally can be brutal. A friend of mine let me drive his rally prepped Starlet. After my second run he told me to just drive like a rally car... And I ended up busting the strut right off, and denting the driveshaft.

Lig...

You should come down to Eugene with the Jeep. They let SUVs run auto-x's down here .... It must be a redneck thing.

Hey, so you *did* drive it like a rally car...

BTW, it's Ben who has the Jeep.

If it's Ben's Jeep, I'm willing to wreck it too.

great day to autocross! i was fortunate to be in the first run group of AM so I got to ride in the dry. Though it was my first time in the S2k with bald fronts which gave me understeer! (though can mainly contribute to finding the right tire pressures) Though i must say that this car is the easiest car to control when backside goes out. i am amazed!!!! pictures will be up soon!

Actually, on dry pavement, bald tires give better traction than treaded tires (hence "racing slicks"). Assuming, of course, that the tire isn't corded.

Keep in mind that if a tire's bald because of wear instead of shaving, it may be old and/or heat cycled out, making it less grippy.

they are old s-02s, but also could of been bad driving technique. (not enough straight line braking before turn)

I drove the tread write off my S-02s when I had my car. On the auto-x course the s2ki performed as if the ground was wet. I pretty much "drifted" through the entire course. Slow times... but the most fun I've had at an auto-x!
