Default MCO Solo2 season Starts

Here is my first MCO propaganda for the year.

If you have any interest in autocross the first event is on Saturday. You get timed, so you'll know how fast you are. My S2000 is lonely hitting cones alone.

June 26 is the Performance Control School, basically autocross boot camp. Affordable way to learn basic skills, a lot of driving time for the buck. I'll probably be there manning the course.

The event calander is here:
http://www.mco.org/forums/cal.asp?view=eventslist

There's other stuff like rally events, Solo 1 and road racing if your so inclined.

A lot of common cars like Integra's, Miatae, Sentra SpecV's, Mustang GT's, Accent's, Golf's, Mini's, Civic's.
- Some events we get the Montreal autocrosser's caravan.
- There is one stock Accent with a great driver that would beat me on raw time until the end of the season.
- Once had a Volvo station wagon. He was faster than most people.
- Last year there was a Lotus Elan, but the owner moved to Toronto.
- There is a 318 with an engine swap.
- Every once in a while the crazy RWD Corolla shows up. It's turbocharged, stripped with no hood and the air filter hanging out the gas cap.
- A lot of the modified cars go to the track events, every once in a while they show up. Turbo Focus, M coupe.

In Winnipeg we mostly had miatas..2 other S2000 guys..a bunch of Civics, Mustangs, Corvettes Camaro's, VW's a whole gamut. Some older BMW's a couple of porsche's some WRX's and one STI.

We got some guys coming up from Grand Forks from the US.

The coolest car that comes out every weekend was this one guy who's an orthopedic surgeon who drives a 2001 Z8. I don't know, but if I had $250 large to spend on a car that the Z8 would be my choice, but it was pretty cool to hear that M5 motor whining up in the straight aways.

It sure was a hell of a lot of fun.

FYI, it was a good event with 8 runs! Not too many showed up on the long weekend, but we did get that Viper I lapped with before.

Hi Fongu,

Thanks for your previous advice regarding roll bar requirements in S1. I will likely sign up for the June 26 rollbar-free driving school. How much is an MCO membership (weighing this on the 25-buck discount for the $100 course)?

Thanks much,
Leif

Nice to see you here Vike. A MCO membership is $60. So, you're still paying $35. It still would be worth your while if you want to do some other events. For example:
- Each autocross entry fee save $10 per event
- Lapping day (if you have the rollbar) probably about $30
- Winter driving school (excellent school too) probably about $30
- Winter autocross probably about $10

Membership also gets associated memberships with various Ontario racing clubs. Sometimes we get other clubs prefered entry fees too. You get a newsletter too!!!!

Come to the autocross at the Corel Center this Sunday. I'll be running, maybe hapa will be there. I'll give you a ride on a run. Hell, just join up and give it a try.

Hey Dvious 1 I hope that the twins are good. I hear that the M3 dude from Grand Forks is tearing it up at the Autocross in Winnipeg these days. Maybe you do need that Comptech.
