Hotel recommendation in Pembroke?
Simon,
I have to come up and do some work up in the valley next week and was wondering if you could recommend the best hotel in and around the Pembroke area please.
I was thinking:
Best Western Pembroke Inn & Conference Centre
1 International Drive, Pembroke, ON K8A 6W5
(613) 735-0131
I think that's the one just across from the Irving station if I'm correct?
I've stayed in enough fleebag motels in my travelling days up to Thunder Bay so some local knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

You're right, the Best Western is just off the hiway across from Irving.
But I would recommend the Comfort Inn. Its more central, closer to the mall, and generally much nicer. Travellodge is nice too, directly across the street from Comfort Inn.
While in town, definately check out Santa Fe Grill and Beverage Co. Very good south western menu and great prices (sorta like Lone Star Cafe, but more of a home cooked feel to it).
ANy other questions about the area, let me know.

Thanks a lot I appreciate it. I'll call both this weekend to see. Can you tell me is the Comfort Inn newer? Usually the newer the place the nicer in some regards.
thanks again!

Tonight I went to Santa Fe Grill. A1 recommendation there Simon! It has some nice views of the river and across the hills in Quebec. I'm sure it's even nicer in the summer. I thought that the atmosphere was nicer than Lone Star. It seemed more relaxed and less like a train station at rush hour.
I also saw the place you can go wash your new STI. It's called "Talk of the town carwash". Maybe it is the talk of the town but I didn't see anyone there at 7PM.
Once again thanks for the recommendation hotel and restaurant seemed just fine!

Glad you enjoyed it. It just opened up a month ago and its the talk of the town (no, not the car wash).
Its actually run by two ex-Lonestar veterans of 15 yrs.

Talking to a few of my clients, the new Home Depot that is opening on April 11th or thereabouts seems to be the talk of the town. I'm sure some of the other home supply places are worried about it's opening. It's a huge store for a town like Pembroke. You'd wonder why they need to build a store so big! Also last night I went to Canadian Tire and was amazed at how big of a store is there for Pembroke too. It's gargantuan! That whole area around Home Depot, Boston Pizza must have been developed in the last 5 years. It all looks pretty new! All in all Pembroke seems to be a nice quiet town in the valley!

Yeah, the townsfolk are pretty hyped about the Home Depot. Rumor has it that a Future Shop and Costco are not far behind.....
