Yeah, just found the DIY thread before you posted. It looks RIDICULOUSLY easy. It'd be robbery for me to pay anyone more than $100 to do it. Anyone want $100? lol...I might just take this on with me and a friend. Two guys and good tools should make this cake. Insurance company just gave the OK to send a check our way, so now all that's left is finding a reasonable price. HTG wants about $3300 shipped.
Thraak, when you ordered form Classic, it came with all the necessary hardware, correct? They quoted me $2995 and sounded VERY unsure about anything, though the told me it does come with what is needed for the install. Unless HTG can do better on the price, I'll probably order through Classic. It's nearly a $400 difference.
I ordered the hardtop for my '05. It came with all of the hardware. They sold me a wiring harness for about $40. When the hardtop arrived in Orlando, I rented a pickup from Home Depot (hourly rental). They loaded it on with a forklift because the box is about 6' X 6'. I brought it home only to discover that it was Laguna Blue. When I called them about it, the jerk that used to work there thought that it was the funniest thing. Anyway, the NFR one arrived about two weeks later. The wiring harness was included in the box so I had them give me a refund of $40 for the harness I did not need.
So a representative from Classic Honda responded to an e-mail I sent yesterday. In it, he stated that the price for a hardtop with installation will cost $4200, mind you this is after I've already been quoted $2995 for the hardtop alone from two separate parts associates. I responded asking him if the part was $3500 and if they were in fact charging me $700 for a half hours worth of work. He responded with:
"I am sorry if you were misinformed by the internet that it takes 30 mins to install but it actually takes approximately 4 hours to do."
Wow. Now, if just a regular S2000 owner can install a hardtop in less than an hour, what am I paying a certified Honda technician for? Anyone up for installing this hardtop in their parking lot with a stopwatch? lol
When they gave me the wrong color, they said that they were excited when it came in and didn't bother checking the color. I asked if they sell many hardtops. They said that they thought that they may have sold one other. So, chances are: the installer that they will have installing it, will probably be installing his first hard top. I am not talking bad about the dealership, I am just stating a fact. I like the dealership.
I think any dealership will charge about 4 hours labor. On paper and with adjustments they can get away with it. In all honesty, it's about a 1 - 1.5 hr. job, taking your time.

I had to put forged Volks CE-28N's on just to keep up with a Nissan Versa!!! Seriously, the Volks are 12 lbs. lighter in the rear (per pr.) and 8 lbs. lighter in the front (per pr.), compared to stock and they are 1/2" wider. I don't know if it's true but I once read that for every lb. of wheel weight that you reduce, it's like subtracting 2-3 lbs. of gross weight. I put on a Fujitsubo exhaust and K&N FIPK intake. It seems faster than stock but I don't know. I don't race.
