Default Visiting Portland, need some advice

Hey guys,

This is not S2K related, but thought you guys would be able to help. I'm taking my family to visit Portland for 2 nights.

Just wondering where are some good local dining places to check out. Not looking for fine dining, but more of a local favorite diner or something. For example, I saw "Bunk Sandwiches" (might be wrong) on the Food network awhile ago as a cool place for lunch.

Thanks for the help =)

I really like these places for some yummy food and they don't break the bank!

The Tin Shed

Pine State Biscuits - Get there early or be ready to wait in line. The wait is worth it!

Voodoo Doughnuts - Everytime I go here I see tons of kids playing the pinball machines, etc., so I would consider this place kid friendly. Awesome doughnuts!!

Hope you have fun here!

What type of food are you looking for? Family friendly or romantic dinner for two? Pacific NW type foods like seafood? Or something with a view? We have lots of great places here, but unless we know what you are kind of thinking, it's hard to suggest. The Tin Shed have some of the yummiest breakfast around.

Mother's Bistro is a nice upscale family place with great food. I also heard that the Little Red Bike is a good place, but I've never been there.

I'm the wrong person to ask about family friendly places as I don't have kids. But maybe others will chime in soon.

Have a GREAT visit here.

You're welcome! Voodoo is so goooood! Also, if you go to Voodoo Doughnuts bring cash, they don't take plastic and their ATM machine charges a nice fee for withdrawing cash.

If I'm looking for some where new to go to that is good I always look here: http://www.portlandmonthlymag.com/eat-and-drink/

Also, try Laurelhurst Market I haven't tried this place yet, but I heard it's good and the food sounds yummy!!!

Depending on what kind of mood you are in. Here are some places that I recommend.

The Chart House classy place

Higgins classy, romantic especially for 2 by a window during the rain

Arabian Breeze great food (thanks Larry!)

Meriwether's locally/own grown vegies.

McMenamins Edgefield great beer

Adina Restaurant Tapas in the Pearl District

Henry's 12th Street Tavern Great beer and food in Downtown.

We're so fortunate that there's so many great restaurants in Portland. I'm sure others will recommend more.

I agree with Huy, and he would know...his wife is a famous Portland diner.

Arabian Breeze - Great food. One of my favorites now...thanks Larry.

Meriwether's - One of Portland's best. Great representation for the Pacific NW.

McMenamins Edgefield - the best McMenamins around...a must see.

Henry's 12th Street Tavern - It's just plain yumminess, and that's beer and food. Sit up at the bar and let the ice bar keep your beer cold.

I haven't been to the others that he mentioned, but if Huy (actually Sandi) says it's good, it has to be good. Sandi knows food.
