Thank you everyone for all the kind words. The transplant was a success and I am healing quick. I was lucky enough to get a matching kidney from my mother. I was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney disease called IGA. It's not heriditary or in my genes and I'm the only one in my family with it. Theres very little information about IGA. My kidneys went from good to bad in about 2 years and before I got my transplant I was on dialysis 8 hours each night, 7 days a week. It's a huge relief not having to do dialysis anymore. I have been healthy all my life. I've never smoked or done any drugs. Played football, basketball, track, and wrestling growing up.

The only advise I would give is do your checkups regularly (physical exams/blood tests) to make sure you are ok. When they detected my kidney disease, their function was down to 18% of efficiency with very minimal side effects. IGA is also known as the silent killer because many people who have it don't know they have it.

Thanks again everyone. It feels good to be "normal" again. Now the road to recovery should be lots of fun. Looking forward to another great year with the group!
