I'm missing out on detail day because of a mentoring commitment - missing out on seeing all of YOU!

The Gorge is calling to me! Is anyone interested in heading up there tomorrow? It looks like good driving weather. Up I-84, crossing over to Washington at Cascade Locks, east on Highway 14, back across the Columbia at Hood River, I-84 east to the Old Columbia River Highway (twisties!) up to the spectacular Rowena Crest viewpoint? Continue to The Dalles, cross the river and all the way back home on Highway 14?

Go early? Go late? Stop to eat somewhere? A different (shorter) route? I'm flexible - just want to DRIVE. Any takers?

Hey if you guys want to go on a longer drive, I'm going to drive to Newport tomorrow, enjoy some sun at the beach. I was thinking about going around 1030am. Of course I'm already in Corvallis so it's not as long as for some others

Got your message, Garret. Thanks. Sounds like folks are heading in different directions today.

Here's the Gorge drive plan for those who are interested:
Meet at the McDonalds off I-84, Exit 17 (Marine Drive). Be there by 10:45 or so. We'll depart at 11.
East on I-84.
Take the Bridge of the Gods over to Washington at Cascade Locks.
East on Highway 14.
Cross back to Oregon at Hood River.
Lunch in Hood River, 12:30-ish.
(Take a mini-drive a ways up Highway 35 - just to see if some of the lower elevation orchards are in bloom yet?)
Return to I-84 east.
Take the Old Columbia River Highway up to Rowena Crest viewpoint. (Admire, gawk, snap some photos, ooh and ahh.)
Proceed on Highway 30 into The Dalles.
Back over the Columbia to take Highway 14 all the way back to Portland.
(And, yes, we'll hit a couple of rest stops along the way.)
