Summer 2010 – Deschutes Rafting Drive
…
Deschutes Whitewater Rafting Loop Drive –
.................................
.....
…
… …
This drive will take us up over Mt. Hood on our way to Maupin. There we will enjoy the better part of the day whitewater rafting trip down the Lower Deschutes River. Gear is provided by River Drifters. The total length of the drift is 10 miles and includes some 2, 3 and 3+ rapids and a riverside barbecue lunch.
This is a follow-up to our very popular two-day drive/rafting of last summer, but this time we’ve condensed it down to one day!
Following the completion of our rafting, we will head north to The Dalles and then back home down the Gorge to Portland.
DRIVE RATING:
…
.. . Driving = 50% 2, 45% 3, 5% 4 (out of 5)
Scenery = 4 (out of 5)
Saturday, July 24, 2010 –
…
Clackamas to Maupin - 2 Driving Hours & 92.6 Miles
We will make our departure from east Portland and head up through Carver and Sandy before we hit Hwy. 26. Then it is on up to Government Camp for a stop before heading around the mountain and on down to Maupin on the Deschutes River.
…
…
...
We will meet up with the rafting company to get our gear and then it is off to the drop-off point on the river.
…
...
...
We will encounter most of the famous rapids on the Lower Deschutes, including Wapinita, Box Car, Surf City, Oak Springs, Roller Coaster and the Elevators.
.....
After 3 hours on the river, we will be ready for lunch.
...
Then it is on down the river again.

.....

...
Back at Maupin we will return to our cars and head north to The Dalles.

They will take your credit card information (and charge it) when you make your reservation.
Odds are you can wait a bit to make the reservations.
Not too long, though!
