Seat Locks for the S2000
There has been a rash of S2000 seat thefts recently in the Seattle area. Our seats fit perfectly in the Honda Civic, so many want them for the bling factor.
In case you weren't aware, our seats can not be purchased from Honda. They have no part number. You have to buy each individual part and assemble the seat. My body shop told me that a pair of seats can run $10,000! Depending on the age of the S, some insurance companies will total the car if the seats are stolen.
You can protect yourself with a set of seat locks. These are produced by McGard for a fellow S2KI member - Kodokan_4. The seats can not be removed with these locks in place.
If you are interested, check out this thread: Seat Locks
It is a good investment and worth the peace of mind.

WOW! I didn't know you couldn't buy seats at ALL from Honda. I was on a stolen seats thread just the other day and the guy was saying that Honda quoted him like $5,600 for a new pair of seats. I thought the thing was that you could only buy the seats in pairs; not just singular seats. Either way I think these seat locks are a great idea.

Yes, they are.
McGard only makes them for this one S2KI member. To buy a set you have to provide him with proof of ownership of an S. This helps to be sure that the bad guys don't get them (the key).
He only runs these sporadically. About once a year, I believe. He has to have enough interest to make a production run.
I don't know. I think that $90 price is from an old post. I paid $65 about a year ago. Contact Kodokan_4 directly to get current pricing and to get in on this run.

. . . that there was a $90 charge, is that accurate?

Keep in mind that this is not a PDX group buy.
Each person needs to contact Kodokan_4 individually.
[QUOTE]I wonder what kind of proof he wants?
