Default Please Post What Tires You Currently Have

Hey guys,

It's me again. I'll be moving to Eugene from Southern California, and I was wondering what tires do you guys use for your s2k? I'm replacing my tires soon, and I'm looking to get max performance summer tires. I don't drive aggresively (often..only on dry conditions). Would I be ok with max summer performance tires or should I get some all seasons?

Thanks

Stock re050. So far they work great in the wet and dry. The wear rating on them is about 1 day so I plan on going less sticky next time. I think the Khumos are getting pretty good?? I might go that way when these wear out.

It's rare for Eugene to actually get snow. Get some good summer tires with decent wet traction and you should be fine 95% of the time as long as you stay in the valley.

Get into the mountains at ALL and you will want dedicated snow tires.

I am still rolling on the stock Bridgestones. Made it through all the nasty weather that PDX (and the valley) can dish, including the snow (going nice and easy of course) with out any problems. Of course, I have traction control which helps on the wet stuff.

Not sure what I am going to go with when these wear out, still researching that! I forget what the tire was I was looking at when I was at Costco (no, I don't plan to buy there, just comparing) but it had a different construction than I was used to seeing. On the inside was completely smooth, no rib lines from the rubber or anything. It was the highest rated speed tire they carry (also one of the most expensive) I believe it was a Michellin or BF Goodrich. It was supposedly the best built tire for stability. Wouldn't flex as much and keeps more of the foot print on the road.

I am a novice at tire buy. All my other cars were retreaded at Les Schwab with Toyo's, so I am still learning all this.

I am currently running some Dunlop competition tires. I dont run the car in the winter anymore though so these tires are fine. They are a summer, dry tire. However, before this I went with Toyo Proxes T1S (which they upgraded with the Toyo Proxes T1R) and I never had a problem. The Bay area can get some pretty nasty winter months. We did top speed runs, through twistys, in the rain and I never had a problem!!

I'm running on the T1-R's they're good tires with decent wet traction. You can find them at any Les Schwab. After these tires get bad I'm going with either Yoks or Bridgestones as I always had good experiences with them. I might try BF goodriche heard some good things about them. Kuhmos are good tires for the price when compared to others in the price range. In my experience they seem to have a soft sidewall and lose grip after some runs. I personally wouldn't put them on my S, but that's just me.

We run BFG KDW's on our IS. They are great dry tire, but a little loose in the rain. If you take it easy they are fine. Not recommended for hitting some twisty roads in the rain imo.

I've got the Yokohama AVS ES100 at the moment. I've only had it for the summer months, but I've been happy with them so far. I went last winter on RE50's and those were fine as long as you don't drive like an idiot.

I'm actually planning on putting some Kumho ASX's on AP1 rims for the rainy season. I've read plenty of stories of people spinning out unexpectedly on summer tires so I'm going to play it safe. Besides, I'll save my summer tires for nice twisties

If I was buying today I would get Goodyear F1 DS-G3's in 225/50 16 and 245/50 16. Great in wet or dry and the sizes available while not perfect are OK.

I currently have Hankook RS2's in 225/50 and 245/45 and they are cheap but only adequate (good only in dry and a narrow temp range).
