My first Autocross
Yesterday I participated in my first auto-x at the Salem fairgrounds. By far the most fun I've ever had in my S
First run was pretty comical as I hit the hairpins too fast and was oversteering all over the place ...my car almost stalled and I somehow turned on the windshield wipers
After a few runs I began to feel this car's potential although I was still drifiting a bit around the turns. Only one other S (BB with Salem Nissan plates) I didn't get a chance to visit with, but all the other drivers were very friendly. Looking forward to doing it again next month unless I read about another regional event. I'm hooked!

Yea Auto-X would be cool, I just wanna get on that track when I get some new brake pads and different wheels/tires.
As Doug said how much did you end up paying for it and what were the other requirements?

Wish we had a track or auto x set up here. All we got is a drag strip and that gets boring after two passes.

Every time I hear that people own sportscars and have never autocrossed, I wonder. I have very little good to say about the Emerald Empire SCC chapter in Eugene. They are expensive, overcrowded, have poor tracks and some of the organizers can be rude.

I raced the WMC series 2000 thru about 2003ish in a Subaru. Great group of people but the area suffers from a lack of large open parking lots to hold events. At that time many were run at a Les Schwab location. I see they are using the State Fair grounds now, definitely more room for variety there.
Generally to participate you'll just need your license, sign the waiver, pay the fee, and pass tech inspection. Inspection generally includes having no loose items under the hood or in the car/trunk (esp. your battery, you'd be surprised), checking for play in wheels.missing lugnuts, brake system, and other misc stuff that's probably fine assuming you take care of your car. They have loaner helmets but if you bring your own it must be Snell SA95 or M95 rated or newer.
After giving autocrossing and track days a go hillclimbs are another great outlet with a couple here in Oregon and a series around the NW.
Oh but you do, check out Siskiyou Sports Car Club.
