Default Headlight Blew out, Now what?

Driver side HID light blew out. Any suggestions to fix it? Is this a do-it-yourselfer or should i take it to Honda?

Thanks for any suggestion.

Do you mean the bulb?
It should be a fairly simple DIY. I haven't had to do it on the Honda, but I did on my Celica. Worst thing is that it was really tight and hard to maneuver my hands to get the bulb secured properly.

Are these the type of bulbs that you DO NOT want to touch the glass with your fingers due to oils and such?

safe bet is to always avoid direct skin contact with any bulb.

From my understanding HID bulbs are different then those cars that have standard light bulbs like the H4, 9004, etc. From searching I they are a bit of a pain to remove. Accoridng to someone even if you remove the battery the ballast still has a charge in them so you can still shock yourself. So if you do be careful. I haven't done this myself so I can't say from first hand experience. I've just gathered information from others on this site. Here's a link from someone on the UK boards.

Here's the step-by-step procedure as described by Johns999.
1. disconnect battery
2. if changing the left bulb, remove collant expansion tank, it just slides out no tools required.
3. Look in the hole in the wing and you'll see the back of the headlight unit, in the middle you'll see a grey circular'ish piece of plastic with warning stickers all over it, and an electrical connector clipped to it. This is the connector for the ballast, unplug the ballast from the main loom, and unclip the ballast connector from this grey cover.
4. Using the torx bit (tamperproof T25, available as a set from maplin for about

Thanks for your input...I"ve ordered a set of bulbs (Philips D2S - $100/pair) and will attempt to install it myself. Wish me luck. I would let Honda install them but I cannot justify paying 180 - 200 per bulb!! Thats just crazy!!
