Default Driving to Florence. I-5/126 or HWY 18/101?

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question. We are heading to Florence OR. Sunday morning. Starting in Hillsboro, most mapping sites recommend heading south on I-5 then going west once we hit Eugene. This apparently is the fastest route but likely the most boring. I thought about driving to Lincoln City then south on 101 which is less miles but about and hour more time. Any input? Traffic/cops/bad roads???

the I5 corridor is definately boring, but once you get to Eugene, the road to florence is pretty nice with some good curves once you get closer to the coast.

101 is just sort of average until you get farther south and even into Cali IMHO...nice if you wanted a roadtrip but not really "fun".

Taking I-5 south is pretty boring. If you have time taking 101 although may not be filled with great curves but you get some nice views of the ocean along the way.
