There is a place in Oregon you HAVE to pump your own gas, it's the Shell satation on hwy 26 on the Warm Spring Indian reservation

those guys can do anything on their land.....

probably not worth the drive though........

My god, why would you get gas there anyway??
It's like 20 cents higher per gallon than anywhere else in the entire state.

Convenience

I didn't buy GAS, the price was actually pretty comparable for diesel, I was driving my '06 Spr Dty Dually 4x a couple weeks ago on my way home from Baker City and happened to notice that the gas pumps were self serve also, I wasn't aware of that prior to then.

diesel was $2.99

The day I drove home from picking up my S, I went through Warmsprings. There were 3 kids (16-18ish) at that gas station filling up who gawked as I drove by and one of them started to chase me, running down the side of the road at a full sprint.

Made my day

It is like driving through a third world country when you go through Warm Springs. A third world country that does not have a liking for the "white man"

Nope, it is true that they can get fined in the wonderful state of Oregon. They are really not supposed to let you even touch the pump.
Wow, this has to be a huge change for our transplanted Upstater...

I would find this so hard to deal with, in NY we long ago lost "service stations" where there were pump attendants, here it's like if you want gas, get it yourself.

And that is the way it should be. To me the only thing accomplished by having pump attendents is making Oregonians lazy.

as I've said before though, you have to admit it's pretty nice to sit in your car on those cold days and watch a guy shivering and blowing on his hands to keep warm while you sit in the car with the heater on getting gas.

Trust me, I can appreciate the nice part about it in the winter, after all I drive a full-size pickup with a 28 gallon tank that takes a while to fill up, but then again, I just don't llike other people touching my rides...

These little geographic differences I find to be very entertaining, this as an example of something I would never have thought about. And, I have to say, some of the pics Abhi has shared with us here regarding your roads indicates you guys have some really great places to go driving.
